Fulton Twp, OH (June 7, 2026) – A mail carrier was seriously hurt on Friday morning in Fulton County after a collision on County Road K.
The crash occurred just after 10:30 a.m. near County Road 6-1. A 33-year-old woman from Delta was operating a 1987 Chevrolet USPS delivery truck westbound when a 57-year-old man from Delta attempted to pass her vehicle. The two vehicles struck each other, causing the mail truck to leave the left side of the road and overturn, ejecting the driver.
The mail carrier was flown by air ambulance to a Toledo hospital with serious injuries. The other driver sustained possible minor injuries and received treatment at the scene. Emergency units responded to the crash, and no charges have been filed. Drugs and alcohol were not involved. Additional information about the collision has not been released. The investigation is ongoing.
We are thinking of the mail carrier as she receives medical care.
Understanding Side-Impact and Overturn Crashes
Collisions that occur during passing maneuvers often create side-impact and rollover risks, especially on narrow or rural roads. Vehicles can leave the roadway if struck at the side or if the driver loses control while attempting to avoid a collision. Ejection from a vehicle greatly increases the likelihood of serious harm, which is why seatbelts are critical for every occupant.
Even when restraints are used, high-speed or uneven-surface crashes can produce severe injuries. Awareness of surrounding traffic, careful passing, and maintaining proper lane control are key factors in reducing the chance of side collisions and rollovers on rural roadways.
