How Multi-Vehicle Highway Crashes Can Cause Major Traffic Delays
Main travel routes such as Interstate 75 often carry steady volumes of regional traffic. When collisions occur in areas like Manatee County, responders typically secure the scene and manage traffic while assisting those involved.
Multi-vehicle crashes can produce unusual vehicle positions and significant roadway blockage. When damaged vehicles remain in travel lanes, even a single blocked lane can cause long backups as traffic slows through the area.
Highways also operate at higher speeds than city streets, which can increase the force of impact during a crash. Cleanup efforts may take time as crews remove vehicles, clear debris, and ensure the roadway is safe for drivers before reopening all lanes.
