Why Pedestrian Crashes at Intersections Can Cause Serious Injuries
Pedestrian crashes often lead to serious harm because a person has little protection against a vehicle. The impact can affect the head, legs, hips, and upper body. Even a low-speed collision may require hospital care.
Intersections can increase risk because drivers may be turning, slowing, or watching for traffic in several directions at once. Pedestrians may also be crossing while traffic signals change or vehicles move through nearby lanes.
Medical teams often check for head injuries, broken bones, and internal injuries after a pedestrian is hit. Some symptoms may appear right away, while others can become clearer after hospital testing. Early treatment helps doctors assess the full extent of the injuries.
