How Medical Emergencies Can Contribute to Roadway Collisions
Medical episodes while driving can occur suddenly and may affect a driver’s ability to maintain control of a vehicle. When this happens, a vehicle may drift from its lane or enter nearby traffic paths.
School bus routes often involve intersections and multi-lane highways, where timing and lane position are critical. Even a brief loss of control can lead to contact with other vehicles in proximity.
After such crashes, investigators typically review driver health factors, roadway layout, and vehicle movement to understand how the collision occurred. These details help clarify events leading up to the impact.
