Why Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crashes Often Occur Late at Night
City streets such as Northwest 12th Avenue and Northwest 28th Street often remain active late at night with vehicles traveling through commercial areas. Reduced lighting and lighter traffic may change how drivers and pedestrians move through intersections and roadways.
Pedestrians walking near gas stations, businesses, or intersections may cross streets where drivers do not expect them. At night, visibility can be reduced, making it harder for drivers to see someone in the roadway until it is too late.
When a driver leaves the scene after a crash, investigators often rely on surveillance cameras, witness statements, and vehicle damage descriptions to identify the vehicle involved. These details can help determine how the crash occurred and who may be responsible.
