Hoffman Estates, IL (July 14, 2026) – A Rolling Meadows man lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Sunday afternoon on Golf Rd at Kingsdale Rd in Hoffman Estates. The fatal wreck occurred shortly after 3 p.m.

The police identified the motorcyclist as 20-year-old Henry Pineda-Rodriguez of Rolling Meadows. Preliminary findings indicate a Toyota minivan was turning from southbound Kingsdale Rd onto westbound Golf Rd when it collided with the westbound motorcycle.

Pineda-Rodriguez was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:40 p.m. A 21-year-old passenger in the minivan, who is from Hoffman Estates, was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the minivan was not hurt and is cooperating with detectives as they investigate the collision.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Henry Pineda-Rodriguez’s family and loved ones.

Why Are Turning Collisions With Motorcycles Carefully Investigated?

Collisions involving turning vehicles and motorcycles frequently require a detailed review because they can happen within seconds and involve several contributing factors. Investigators commonly examine vehicle positions, traffic signals, sight lines, roadway markings, and witness statements to determine how the collision occurred.

Motorcycles are smaller than most passenger vehicles, which can make them more difficult to notice at intersections. Physical evidence, damage patterns, and any available video recordings may also help establish the sequence of events. In cases involving serious or fatal injuries, investigators usually conduct detailed vehicle inspections and document roadway conditions before reaching conclusions about the circumstances surrounding the collision.
