Mountain Pass, CA (January 2, 2026) – Two people were hospitalized on Wednesday evening following a solo-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 15 near Baily Rd, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident was reported at approximately 6:04 p.m. when a vehicle traveling northbound lost control and veered off the side of the freeway. The car plunged nearly 150 feet down an embankment, prompting a swift emergency response.
Units from CHP and the San Bernardino County Fire Department arrived at the scene and located the heavily damaged vehicle at the base of the slope. Both occupants were found injured and were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Their current conditions have not yet been released.
Authorities are still working to determine what caused the driver to lose control. Roadway conditions, speed, or mechanical failure may be contributing factors under review.
