Newnan, GA (July 9, 2026) – Several people were injured after a multi-vehicle collision blocked all northbound lanes of I-85 near the 44-mile marker in Newnan on Tuesday, July 7.
Initial reports indicated that multiple vehicles were involved, with several people hurt in the roadway. The roadway was completely shut down as emergency units worked to assist those involved and clear the highway.
Traffic began moving again around 5:10 p.m., with vehicles allowed to pass through the left lanes while cleanup efforts continued. By approximately 7:34 p.m., all northbound lanes had reopened to normal traffic.
The extent of the injuries had not been released at the time of this report.
The cause of the collision remains under review, and additional information may be released as the inquiry continues.
