How Intersection Collisions Often Lead to Serious Injuries
Intersections are among the most common locations for vehicle crashes because they require drivers traveling in different directions to cross paths. Even a brief moment of inattention, speeding, or failure to yield can lead to a collision that places drivers and passengers at risk.
When a vehicle strikes another car and then collides with a fixed object, such as a wall or tree, the force of impact can increase significantly. Secondary impacts often cause the most severe injuries because the vehicle may stop suddenly or sustain heavy structural damage.
Traffic safety experts emphasize the importance of slowing down and remaining alert when approaching intersections, especially in areas with frequent cross traffic. Defensive driving and careful observation of traffic signals can help reduce the likelihood of serious crashes.
