What Factors Can Affect Escape During a House Fire?
During a house fire, the speed at which flames and smoke spread can affect how people exit the building. Fires that start at night may delay response times, especially if occupants are asleep when the incident begins.
Windows often become emergency exit points when hallways or staircases are blocked. However, jumping from higher levels can lead to serious injuries, even if it helps avoid flames or smoke.
The presence of working smoke alarms can provide early warning, giving people more time to leave safely. In many cases, fire conditions can change within minutes, making fast decisions necessary to reduce risk during escape.
