What Is Commonly Examined After a Head-On Highway Collision?
Head-on crashes are often among the most severe roadway accidents due to the combined force of impact between two moving vehicles. After these collisions, investigators typically review lane position, vehicle movement, and roadway evidence to determine how the vehicles entered each other’s path.
Damage patterns on both vehicles can help show the angle and location of impact. Investigators may also study skid marks, debris fields, and final vehicle positions to better understand driver reactions before the crash occurred.
Highway conditions, visibility, and traffic flow are frequently reviewed as part of the process. In rural areas, long stretches of roadway and higher travel speeds may also become factors during the examination of the collision and surrounding circumstances.
