Ocala, FL (May 9, 2026) – Emergency crews responded to a crash on Thursday, May 7, afternoon at a Sam’s Club gas station on Southwest College Road in Ocala. The incident occurred around 3:50 p.m., according to Ocala Fire Rescue.

Officials said a GMC vehicle struck a parked Subaru at a fuel pump, trapping two people inside the area near the vehicle. A commercial van was also impacted when a fuel pump structure fell onto it during the collision. At the time, one person was actively fueling the Subaru while another assisted nearby.

Firefighters used extrication tools and stabilization equipment to free those trapped. One person was transported to the hospital as a trauma alert, while two others sustained minor injuries.

Authorities said no gas leak or fire occurred despite the impact at the fuel station. The gas station was temporarily closed due to damage, but has since reopened.

Details about what caused the crash or whether charges will be filed have not been released. Officials continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.

We are thinking of those injured as they recover.

What Makes Gas Station Crashes Especially Dangerous?

Crashes at gas stations can become dangerous due to the close proximity of vehicles, fuel pumps, and pedestrians in tight spaces. Even low-speed impacts can lead to serious injuries when people are standing near parked vehicles or fueling equipment.

Investigators often examine driver control, pedal input, and visibility when vehicles unexpectedly accelerate or enter fueling areas. Structural damage to pumps or canopies can also increase the risk for people nearby. Emergency response crews may need to stabilize vehicles and secure fuel systems to prevent leaks or fires. These environments require careful coordination due to the combination of traffic movement and flammable materials.
