Hallandale Beach, FL (May 9, 2026) – A police pursuit ended in a crash on Thursday evening near Hallandale Beach Boulevard and A1A, resulting in significant vehicle damage but no reported injuries.
According to Hollywood Police, officers identified the suspect they were searching for and attempted to make contact. Authorities said the suspect fled southbound on A1A, prompting a police chase.
Witnesses reported seeing a black vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed with several police units following closely behind around 7 p.m.
Officials said the suspect attempted to turn onto Hallandale Beach Boulevard while traveling in the wrong direction. During the maneuver, the driver reportedly lost control, crossed over a median, and crashed into other vehicles near the intersection.
After the collision, witnesses said the driver exited the vehicle and ran into a nearby apartment building before officers took him into custody.
The incident remains under investigation.
