Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as they become available. Our condolences go out to the victim’s loved ones.
Why Bicycle-Semi Collisions Can Be Deadly
Crashes involving bicycles and large trucks are often severe due to the size and weight difference between the vehicles. Cyclists are vulnerable in intersections, especially when turning or crossing streets near stopped traffic.
Investigators typically review vehicle positions, turning paths, and witness accounts to determine how the collision occurred. Blind spots around large trucks and limited reaction time can make it difficult for drivers to see cyclists, even in urban areas.
Traffic patterns, intersection design, and roadway markings are also analyzed to understand how crashes like this unfold and to provide context for safety improvements.
