Charlotte, NC (July 4, 2026) – A deadly collision shut down a major stretch of Interstate 277 near Uptown early on Friday, around 3:30 a.m.
The collision occurred on July 3, near Independence Boulevard and Charlottetowne Avenue. Officials said the incident led to the closure of Interstate 277 inbound, which remained shut down until around 7 a.m. while crews worked in the area. Paramedics confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
