How Wrong-Way Driving Can Lead to Serious Motorcycle Crashes
Wrong-way driving is one of the most dangerous situations on any roadway. It often leads to head-on collisions, which are especially severe for motorcyclists due to their lack of protection. Even at moderate speeds, these crashes can result in life-threatening injuries or death.
Motorcycles are smaller and less visible than other vehicles, which can reduce reaction time when a car enters the wrong lane. Riders may have little opportunity to avoid impact, especially on narrower roads.
Factors like driver confusion, impairment, or poor visibility can contribute to wrong-way incidents. Road design and signage also play a part, particularly in areas where lanes are not clearly marked or lit at night.
