Manchester, NJ (August 11, 2026) – A 43-year-old man was critically hurt Sunday evening after being struck by a car while crossing Route 530 near Swift Circle. The crash was reported at about 9:37 p.m. Sunday, August 9.
Richard J. Fescharek, 43, of Whiting, suffered multiple potentially life-threatening injuries. He was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment.
Police identified the driver as Rocco Lanzetti, 63, of Wrightstown. Lanzetti was traveling west on Route 530 in a gray 2013 Toyota Camry when Fescharek entered the roadway, according to the report.
When officers arrived, they found Fescharek unresponsive in a grassy area beside the road. He had been thrown about 50 feet toward the northwest corner of the intersection.
Route 530 was partially closed for several hours while authorities investigated and cleared the roadway. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under review. Our thoughts are with Fescharek as he continues to receive care.
