Marion County, FL (July 28, 2026) – A 76-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle late Monday night on SR-326 east of NW 40th Ter in Marion County. The accident was reported shortly after 11 p.m. on Monday, July 27.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 28-year-old driver was traveling east on SR-326 when his vehicle hit the pedestrian, who was walking in the inside lane of the highway. Investigators said it remains unclear why the man was in the roadway.
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured. The pedestrian’s identity has not been released.
