Why Pickup Truck and Pedestrian Crashes Can Be Fatal
Pedestrian crashes involving pickup trucks can be especially severe because of the vehicle’s size, height, and weight. A person walking has no protection from the force of impact, and injuries may affect the head, chest, spine, hips, or legs.
Nighttime crashes can add more risk because visibility may be reduced near intersections and major roads. Investigators may review lighting, lane position, vehicle speed, traffic signals, road markings, and witness statements to understand what happened. Vehicle damage and camera footage may also help confirm the sequence of events before the fatal collision.
