Pierce Co, WA (January 7, 2026) – A Washington State Patrol trooper sustained injuries Monday night in a multi-vehicle collision on State Route 512, prompting a response from local authorities and temporary traffic delays.
The crash occurred around 7:00 p.m. near the intersection of SR-512 and Canyon Road East, according to statements from Washington State Patrol (WSP). Officials say the trooper’s vehicle was rear-ended by a driver following too closely, setting off a chain reaction involving a total of four vehicles.
The trooper was hospitalized with minor, non-life-threatening injuries. No other individuals required hospital care, though all four vehicles involved sustained varying degrees of damage. Authorities have not yet released information on any citations or arrests connected to the crash.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office has taken over the investigation, and officials are urging drivers in the area to continue exercising caution due to residual traffic impacts from the collision.
We are thankful the injuries were not more severe and send our best wishes for the trooper’s recovery.
