The driver remained at the scene and spoke with the police. According to early information, children were playing nearby and may have run into the roadway before the crash occurred.

Why Do Child Pedestrian Incidents Often Happen in Neighborhood Areas?
Residential streets can see increased pedestrian activity, especially when children are playing outdoors. In these environments, movement can be less predictable compared to controlled crossings.
Drivers may have limited time to react if a child suddenly enters the roadway. Parked cars, driveways, and curves in the road can also reduce visibility in neighborhood settings.
Low-speed zones reduce severity in many cases, but even slow-moving vehicles can cause injury when contact occurs. Awareness from both drivers and nearby supervision can play a role in reducing these incidents.
