How Car and Motorcycle Crashes Can Cause Severe Injuries
Crashes between cars and motorcycles can lead to serious injuries because riders have less protection than people inside enclosed vehicles. A motorcycle does not have the same frame, airbags, or seatbelt system as most passenger cars.
Leg injuries are common in motorcycle crashes. A rider’s lower body may absorb force during impact, or it may strike the vehicle, pavement, or another object. These injuries can require fast medical care, especially when bleeding, fractures, or major tissue damage are involved.
Road closures may also follow serious motorcycle accidents. Crews often need space to treat the injured person, move damaged vehicles, and keep other drivers away from the scene.
