Richmond, VA (January 2, 2026) – Emergency responders from Richmond Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene of a personal injury crash early Friday morning. The incident occurred around 7:47 a.m. on January 2 along the 6800 block of Midlothian Tpke, a busy commercial corridor in the southern part of Richmond.
Paramedics quickly arrived at the scene to assist individuals hurt in the collision. At least one person sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for additional evaluation and treatment. Officers from the Richmond Police Department (RPD) were also present, working to control traffic, gather information, and support emergency crews during the response.
The crash took place just before the peak of the morning commute, a time when traffic along Midlothian Tpke is typically heavy. Although the road was partially obstructed during emergency operations, the scene was cleared later in the morning, and RPD has since listed the case as closed. However, an internal investigation is likely ongoing to determine the crash’s contributing factors, such as driver distraction, road conditions, or speed.
This stretch of Midlothian Tpke is known for high traffic volumes, especially near shopping centers, local businesses, and commuter routes, which can heighten the risk of collisions during busy hours.
