The incident occurred around 12:45 p.m. on January 17 and involved multiple patients located on the left-hand shoulder of the transition route.
Responding paramedics and Metro fire units initially reported difficulty locating the exact crash site, but later confirmed the presence of injured parties after receiving updated location details from the California Highway Patrol. The scene was described as being along the interchange between westbound I-8 and southbound I-5.
