What Causes Multi-Vehicle Crashes During Early Morning Hours?
Early-morning crashes often occur when traffic begins to increase, and drivers adjust to changing road conditions. Fatigue can also affect reaction time, especially for those who have been driving for long periods or are just starting their day.
Lower light levels during early hours may reduce visibility. Drivers might have more difficulty seeing vehicles ahead, particularly if weather or road conditions add to the challenge.
When vehicles travel close together, even a small slowdown can lead to a chain of impacts. Limited reaction time makes it harder to avoid contact once a crash begins.
Road congestion near exits can also contribute. Vehicles entering or leaving the highway may slow down or change lanes, increasing the risk of multi-vehicle collisions.
