Snohomish, WA (May 17, 2026) – Two people were hospitalized after a three-vehicle head-on crash in Snohomish on Saturday, May 16. The collision happened around 7:24 p.m. on State Route 9.

Officials said one vehicle was traveling north on State Route 9 before crossing the center line and colliding with two other vehicles. One car rolled over and came to rest on its roof.

One of the other vehicles went into a ditch, while another stopped on the shoulder. Two vehicles had major front-end damage after the crash.

One driver was trapped and had to be cut from the vehicle. Emergency units used rescue tools and freed the driver in about 17 minutes. Two drivers were taken to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. One suffered serious injuries, and another had life-threatening injuries. A third driver was not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation, and additional details may become available as authorities continue their review.

We are thinking of the injured drivers and hope they make a full recovery.

Rescue and Medical Care After Head-On Crashes

Head-on crashes can cause severe injuries because vehicles often absorb strong force from the front. When several vehicles are involved, the impact can push cars into ditches, shoulders, or other lanes.

Rollovers and heavy front-end damage can make rescue more difficult. Doors may jam, frames may bend, and occupants may need to be removed carefully to avoid further injury.

Medical teams often check for head trauma, chest injuries, broken bones, and internal injuries after head-on crashes. When someone is trapped, crews may stabilize the vehicle first, then use rescue tools to create space and safely remove the injured person.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.

Focus on your recovery and
let trusted professionals handle the rest
