Why Bridge Rollover Crashes Can Cause Major Delays
Rollover crashes on bridges can be difficult for responders because space is limited. Damaged vehicles may block lanes, and crews have fewer options for moving traffic around the scene safely.
Airlifted patients often need rapid access to trauma care after serious crashes. Rollover collisions can cause head, neck, back, and chest injuries, especially when vehicles overturn or come to rest in unsafe positions.
Bridge closures may last longer when debris, damaged vehicles, and medical response all happen in the same area. Crews often need time to clear the roadway and make sure the bridge is safe before traffic resumes.
