Why Motorcycle Crashes on State Highways Can Become Severe
Motorcycle crashes on state highways often result in serious injuries because riders have less physical protection than occupants inside passenger vehicles. Even moderate-speed impacts can throw a rider from the motorcycle and into surrounding traffic lanes.
Highway intersections and junctions can increase the risk of collisions due to merging traffic, lane changes, and varying vehicle speeds. When multiple vehicles are involved, roadway blockages and extended closures are common while emergency crews investigate and remove damaged vehicles.
Investigators usually review impact points, lane positions, and roadway conditions after fatal motorcycle crashes. Vehicle damage, skid marks, and witness statements may help determine how the collision occurred and whether visibility or traffic movement contributed to the incident.
