Stafford County, VA (May 16, 2026) – One person was hospitalized after a crash involving a tractor-trailer and an SUV along Interstate 95 in Stafford County, according to Virginia State Police.
Authorities said the collision occurred on the southbound side of I-95 near mile marker 138. Preliminary reports indicate an SUV was stopped on the right shoulder of the interstate when it was struck by a passing tractor-trailer. The police said the impact caused the SUV to spin out of control while the tractor-trailer traveled through a guardrail, down an embankment, and caught fire. Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene to assist the drivers and contain the blaze.
Both drivers were able to escape their vehicles following the crash. The driver of the SUV was transported to a local hospital for treatment, but officials have not released information regarding the extent of the injuries. The crash caused significant disruption in the area as emergency personnel worked to investigate the collision and clear the damaged vehicles from the scene. The incident remains under investigation by Virginia State Police.
