What Happens When a Driver Fails to Yield at an Intersection?
Crashes at intersections often occur when one driver fails to yield the right of way. This can occur during turns, especially left turns across traffic. These situations can quickly become dangerous because oncoming vehicles may not have enough time to stop.
Drivers are expected to check for approaching traffic and wait until it is safe before turning. Even a short delay in judgment can lead to a serious collision. In many cases, one vehicle may try to avoid impact, but reaction time and speed can limit what is possible.
Factors like road visibility, traffic flow, and driver attention all affect how these crashes unfold. Intersections remain among the most common accident locations due to the many decisions drivers must make in a short time.
