What Factors Are Usually Reviewed After a Pedestrian Traffic Crash?
After a pedestrian traffic crash, investigators typically examine several details to better understand how the roadway encounter occurred. These reviews often include vehicle speed, visibility, traffic flow, and whether crosswalks or traffic signals were nearby. Lighting and weather can also be considered, even during daylight hours.
Road design may become part of the review as well. Curves, intersections, and shoulder width can affect how easily drivers and pedestrians see one another. In some cases, officials also look at distractions inside or outside the vehicle, along with pedestrian movement, before contact occurred.
Medical findings and vehicle damage can help explain the severity of harm reported after the incident. Early reports may provide only limited information, while additional findings are gathered over time through witness statements and roadway evidence.
