Tempe, AZ (January 7, 2026) – A pedestrian sustained injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Tuesday evening near Rio Salado Parkway in Tempe, prompting a full emergency response and temporary traffic closure in the area.
The collision was reported at approximately 6:10 p.m. on January 5. According to dispatch audio, the pedestrian, a male, suffered a fractured left leg and an abrasion on his left elbow. He was stabilized on scene and transported by ambulance to Scottsdale Osborn Hospital in non-life-threatening condition.
Tempe Police and emergency crews responded to the crash, which temporarily shut down all westbound lanes of Rio Salado Parkway while medics worked the scene and officers initiated an investigation. Crews anticipated reopening the road once the patient had been transported and the scene cleared.
The pedestrian was described as wearing a black shirt and blue jeans at the time of the crash. The events leading up to the incident have not been disclosed, and it remains unclear whether the driver involved stayed at the scene.
