Why Intersection Crashes Often Lead to Vehicle Damage and Injuries
Intersections are common locations for injury crashes because vehicles from different directions must cross or merge within a limited space. Even at moderate speeds, impacts near the front or side of a vehicle can cause significant damage and force vehicles off the roadway.
When a vehicle leaves the road after a collision, nearby hazards such as poles, signs, or drainage areas can increase the risk of additional damage. Drivers may also experience delayed pain symptoms after the initial impact, leading to hospital evaluations even when they remain conscious at the scene.
Investigators often review vehicle positions, roadway markings, and traffic movement patterns after intersection crashes. Damage patterns and witness statements can also help establish how the collision occurred.
