Why Pedestrian Fatalities Often Occur in Early Morning Hours
Pedestrian crashes during early morning hours can be particularly severe due to reduced visibility and lower driver awareness. Darkness, limited street lighting, and fewer witnesses can delay both detection and emergency response.
In residential and mobile home communities, roadways may not always have clear sidewalks or marked crossing areas, increasing the risk for pedestrians walking near traffic lanes. When a pedestrian is struck, cardiac arrest can occur immediately due to the force of impact and resulting trauma.
Emergency responders often focus on rapid assessment and life-saving measures, but severe injuries can make survival difficult even with prompt medical attention. Investigations typically review roadway conditions, lighting, and driver visibility to understand how these incidents occur.
