Tumwater, WA (January 14, 2026) – A tragic incident unfolded late Monday morning in Tumwater when an elderly woman was struck and killed by a vehicle in a grocery store parking lot. The fatal auto-pedestrian crash occurred just before 11:47 a.m. at 520 Cleveland Avenue.
According to the Tumwater Police Department, a 51-year-old male driver was navigating through the lot when he unintentionally struck the woman. The driver later told investigators that he did not see the pedestrian before the impact occurred.
Emergency responders from Tumwater Police, Washington State Patrol, and local fire crews arrived at the scene shortly after the crash. Despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced deceased on-site.
Officials have not yet released the identity of the victim. Authorities are continuing to investigate the collision, including whether any contributing factors such as visibility, speed, or distraction were involved.
