Twinsburg, OH (March 18, 2026) – A three-vehicle crash on I-480 East claimed the life of a 22-year-old Salem man on Tuesday night, March 17. The collision occurred around 9:17 p.m. near the 37-mile marker.
Preliminary reports indicate a Mitsubishi Outlander failed to yield while entering the highway, striking an eastbound Honda CRV. The Honda rolled onto its roof, and a second eastbound vehicle then hit the overturned car, causing it to flip back upright. The back-seat passenger of the Honda was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Two other occupants were extricated, and three people were taken to nearby hospitals with injuries from the crash.
Steven Neff, 37, of Streetsboro, was arrested following the crash. He faces multiple charges, including aggravated vehicular homicide, three counts of aggravated vehicular assault, OVI, reckless operation, and entering a roadway from a place other than a roadway. Neff is scheduled for arraignment in Stow Municipal Court on Wednesday.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
Our condolences go out to the victim’s loved ones during this difficult time.
Understanding Multi-Vehicle Highway Collisions
Collisions involving multiple vehicles on highways often happen when one driver fails to yield or misjudges gaps in traffic. These crashes can cause cars to roll over or be struck multiple times, increasing the risk of severe injuries or fatalities. Seat belts and properly secured passengers can reduce the chance of ejection, but high-speed impacts make injuries more likely.
Emergency response teams typically work quickly to extricate trapped occupants and provide immediate medical attention. Highway conditions, vehicle speed, and traffic density all influence how such collisions unfold, making early reports often limited while authorities gather details.
