Why Head-On Crashes Often Lead to Road Closures
Head-on collisions are among the most serious types of roadway crashes because the combined forces of two moving vehicles can result in significant damage. Even when injuries are reported as minor, investigators often conduct detailed examinations of the roadway and vehicles involved.
Construction zones can complicate traffic patterns through lane shifts, narrowed lanes, and changing driving conditions. These factors may require drivers to exercise additional caution and remain alert to temporary traffic controls.
After a head-on collision, investigators commonly review vehicle positions, roadway markings, traffic conditions, and physical evidence to determine how the vehicles entered one another’s path. Road closures are frequently necessary to allow for medical assistance, debris removal, and documentation of the crash site.
