Why Head-On Crashes Often Lead to Serious Injuries
Head-on crashes can be severe because the front ends of two vehicles absorb a strong impact. Even at moderate speeds, the force can cause injuries to the head, neck, chest, and legs.
Entrapment can make these crashes more dangerous. When a vehicle is badly damaged, responders may need to remove doors, cut metal, or stabilize the car before getting a person out safely.
Road closures are common after head-on collisions. Crews need room for rescue work, medical care, vehicle removal, and debris cleanup. These steps help protect injured people, responders, and other drivers near the scene.
