How Extrication Works in Serious Vehicle Crashes
Extrication is required when crash damage prevents occupants from safely exiting a vehicle. Fire crews often use specialized tools to carefully remove doors, roofs, or other structural parts.
These operations are focused on avoiding further injury while accessing trapped individuals. The stability of the vehicle is also monitored to prevent movement during rescue efforts.
Even in lower-speed collisions, significant vehicle damage can make extrication necessary. Quick coordination between fire and EMS teams helps ensure patients receive timely medical evaluation once freed.
