How Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crashes Commonly Occur at Night
Pedestrian crashes at night often happen when visibility is limited, and drivers have less time to react. Poor lighting and roadway conditions can make it harder to see people crossing streets.
Hit-and-run incidents add another layer of difficulty, as delayed driver identification can slow down parts of the investigation. Witness accounts and traffic camera footage often play a key role in these cases.
Pedestrians are especially vulnerable when crossing multi-lane roads, where vehicles may approach from multiple directions at once. Caution from both drivers and pedestrians is critical in high-traffic corridors.
