Atlanta, GA (January 10, 2026) – A serious multi-vehicle crash shut down portions of the I-75/85 Downtown Connector early Friday morning, resulting in one fatality and injuries to several other motorists.
According to reports, the collision occurred around 2:40 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the connector near University Ave. One vehicle had come to a stop in the roadway for reasons that remain under review. Shortly afterward, a pedestrian was struck, triggering a chain-reaction collision involving multiple vehicles.
Atlanta Fire and Rescue crews, along with emergency medical services, arrived to find extensive damage across the roadway. Paramedics worked to assist those suffering from a variety of injuries, providing on-scene care before transporting several victims to area hospitals for further treatment. Despite life-saving efforts, one adult female was pronounced deceased at the scene..
Authorities have not released the identities of those involved. An investigation is ongoing to determine the full sequence of events that led to the crash.
