Why Motorcycle Crashes on Curves Can Be Especially Dangerous
Motorcycles require balance and precise control, especially when traveling through curves. Riders must adjust speed and positioning to maintain traction and stability. If a rider enters a curve too quickly or misjudges the turn, the motorcycle can leave the roadway.
Unlike enclosed vehicles, motorcycles do not provide structural protection during crashes. Riders and passengers are more exposed to impact forces and may be thrown from the vehicle. Even when wearing helmets and safety gear, injuries can be severe due to direct contact with the ground or surrounding objects.
Roadway conditions, visibility, and roadway design can also affect motorcycle safety. Curves with limited visibility or steep embankments increase the risk of serious outcomes if a motorcycle leaves the pavement.
