Bridgeview, IL (March 30, 2026) – A pedestrian was killed early Sunday morning, March 29, after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash in Bridgeview. The incident happened just after 1:30 a.m. along South Harlem Avenue in the 7100 block.
According to reports, 56-year-old Juan Villagomez of Chicago was crossing the roadway with another person when a red 2008 Chevrolet Impala traveling southbound in the median lane hit him. Emergency units provided aid at the scene before he was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities located the suspected vehicle several blocks away. The driver reportedly told investigators she believed she had struck an animal and left the scene out of fear. Charges are pending as the case continues to be reviewed.
