How Emergency Response Crashes Can Happen at Intersections
Crashes involving emergency vehicles often occur at intersections where multiple traffic streams meet. Even with lights and sirens activated, drivers and emergency responders may still misjudge timing or visibility.
High-speed responses increase the risk of limited reaction time for everyone involved. When vehicles enter an intersection from different directions, even a brief delay in noticing another car can lead to a serious collision.
Intersection crashes can also cause secondary impacts, such as hitting parked vehicles or nearby objects. These chain reactions can increase the number of people and vehicles affected in a single incident.
