Brooklyn, NY (April 19, 2026) – Two women were hospitalized after their vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer and overturned on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. The crash occurred around 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, near Kent Avenue in the Williamsburg area.
Authorities said a gray Honda Civic traveling eastbound on the BQE clipped a tractor-trailer just past the Flushing Avenue exit near Exit 32. The impact caused the sedan to overturn and come to rest on its roof.
Emergency units arrived and transported the two occupants, ages 34 and 35, to Woodhull Hospital with minor injuries. Officials confirmed both women were conscious and speaking while being placed into an ambulance.
The incident remains under review by authorities.
We are thinking of those injured as they recover.
How Highway Truck Collisions Can Lead to Vehicle Rollovers
Collisions involving passenger vehicles and tractor-trailers can lead to serious outcomes due to differences in size and weight. When a smaller vehicle strikes or clips a large truck, it can lose stability and overturn, especially at highway speeds.
Rollovers often occur when a vehicle’s balance is disrupted during impact. Factors such as lane position, speed, and sudden steering corrections can increase the likelihood of a car tipping onto its side or roof.
On busy expressways like the BQE, lane closures are commonly needed after major crashes to allow emergency response and roadway inspection before traffic can safely resume.
