The driver stayed at the scene following the collision. The roadway remained closed for nearly three hours as crews worked to clear the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

How Crosswalk Accidents Often Occur at Busy Intersections
Crosswalk accidents frequently happen at intersections where traffic is heavy, and drivers are making turns. Even when pedestrians use marked crosswalks, they may still be at risk if drivers fail to yield or misjudge the timing of a turn.
Left-turn movements can be especially dangerous because drivers often focus on oncoming traffic rather than checking for people crossing. Visibility issues, distractions, and signal timing can also increase the chances of a crash.
In many cases, road design and traffic flow patterns affect how safely both drivers and pedestrians move through an intersection. Factors such as lighting, signage, and lane layout can affect how easily a person is seen while crossing.
