How Minor Injury Crashes Can Still Affect Busy Interstates
Crashes with minor injuries can still cause major traffic problems on busy interstates. Damaged vehicles, emergency units, and lane closures may reduce traffic flow quickly. Drivers approaching the area may also slow suddenly, creating more congestion.
In multi-person injury crashes, medical teams often check each person for pain, bruising, or signs of a more serious problem. Some injuries may seem minor at first, but can become more painful later. Hospital evaluation helps confirm the extent of harm.
Urban interstates can be challenging after a crash because ramps, lane changes, and heavy traffic meet in a small area. Even a short closure can affect nearby streets and exits.
