Chicago, IL (April 11, 2026) – Three people were seriously injured in an early morning crash on Saturday in the Bronzeville neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side in Cook County.
According to Chicago police, the crash occurred just after 5:00 a.m. at the intersection of East Pershing Rd and South Calumet Ave. Investigators say a 20-year-old woman driving a gray Nissan Altima westbound on Pershing Rd lost control of her vehicle. The car then struck a parked black Toyota Tacoma, which was unoccupied at the time.
The impact pushed the Toyota into a second parked vehicle, a blue Ford Focus, which was also unoccupied. The driver and two passengers in the Nissan were transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center with serious injuries. Emergency crews responded to the scene to assist the victims and secure the roadway during the investigation.
The Chicago Police Department’s Major Accidents Unit is leading the investigation into the crash. The incident remains under investigation, and additional details may be released as they become available.
We are thinking of those injured and wish them a full recovery.
What Factors Are Often Involved When Drivers Lose Control in Urban Areas
Loss-of-control crashes in city environments often involve speed, road conditions, or sudden maneuvers.
Even on straight roads, factors like distraction or overcorrection can cause a driver to veer off course.
Parked vehicles along busy streets can increase the severity of these crashes, as a single impact may trigger a chain reaction involving multiple cars.
