What Investigators Typically Review After a Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crash
In pedestrian hit-and-run cases, investigators often begin by identifying vehicle evidence left at the scene, such as debris, paint transfer, or tire marks. These details can help link a suspect vehicle to the collision and establish the direction of travel.
Surrounding areas are usually searched for witnesses, surveillance footage, or additional physical evidence that may help track movement before and after the crash. Time of day and lighting conditions are also reviewed, especially in rural or wooded areas where visibility may be limited.
Once a vehicle is identified, investigators may examine its damage patterns to confirm involvement in the collision. Medical reports and scene reconstruction are also used to understand how the impact occurred and the sequence of events leading up to the fatal crash.
