Why Crashes With Dump Trucks Can Be Severe
Crashes involving dump trucks can lead to serious injuries because of the size and weight of the larger vehicle. Smaller cars may take heavy damage during impact, especially when the crash happens at an intersection.
Intersections can create added risk because vehicles may be turning, crossing, or continuing through the area at the same time. The angle of impact can affect how much damage occurs and whether vehicles leave their normal path.
Rollovers can add another layer of danger. When a vehicle overturns, occupants may face injuries from the force of the crash, vehicle movement, and damaged interior areas. Medical crews often check for head injuries, broken bones, and internal trauma after these crashes.
